Introductions and such

I suppose the Blog Title/Header Description above does not describe at all, the purpose of this blog, besides the fact that DT is an important aspect to this seemingly nonsensical blog. DT or D____ Talk can be whatever one desires it to be: Diva Talk (a particularly feisty kind of talk), Drama Talk or Deep Talk (in all seriousness kind of talk), Discussion Talk (redundant but equally significant: a moment of reflection and discovery kind of talk), and so on. Whatever the kind of DT, it will categorize the nature of specific posts. For example, when I want to rant about the atrocity that is the movie Jumper (2008), the post will be under Diva Talk. If I wished to tackle my stance on the stem cell research controversy, the post will be under Debate Talk. Comprehende?

Why the "D" in DT- not a more versatile letter like "S"? Simple. DT flows better. And there are not enough DT acronyms out there. Besides, ST stands for more important things such as String Theory, Star Trek, and Street. So there- ST again....you see what I mean?

Not that I'm trying to establish a catchphrase or anything...but if you do happen upon a person who claims to be DTing (which would most likely be Diva Talking), you'll know where he or she got that from.

Me.

You're welcome.

Let me explain more on this blog: Sandramazing.blogspot.com was created as a professional (hah!) and an open (I hope!) blog, which encourages feedback and conversation about issues on the news and entertainment world. Also, I feel that creating such a blog will help improve my writing skillZuh, but that is neither here nor there. A claimed 'expert' on all things, criticisms are valuable but agreeing to my opinions are welcomed as well!

Well I am currently writing my very first post on my new laptop: the MacBook Pro 13" (the cheapest 'Pro' on Apple.com) and I must say...I am liking the purchase. Yes, the price tag was a hefty sum of over a $1000 dollars but well spent on this gorgeous laptop. I've used the SONY VAIO laptop (at the time priced significantly higher than the MacBook Pro today) for slightly under four years and I must say, I feel the MacBook Pro is a far superior in terms of quality and aesthetics. No buyer's remorse here!

My old laptop. It was really a formidable piece of technology back in '06; carrying biometric-fingerprint technology and the built in camera & mic, this VAIO had a lot to offer. Goodbye VAIO. You've served me well during my college years (perhaps not so much in senior year when freezing constantly became annoying but I suppose I cannot blame you for that).

Hello Apple! I have yet to get used to your ways. Particularly of your direct efforts to NOT BE ANYTHING LIKE THE PC AT ALL (Such as placing the minimizer on the left, the Dock to substitute the classic Window's Start Menu, etc.). You are beautiful and I hope to use you for more than four years; even years after Steve Jobs comes up with a newer, more stylish you.

I have no well grounded complaints on the Macbook Pro as of yet. Oh, but I need to mention that the 10-hour battery life per recharging the Macbook Pro is a blatant exaggeration. I think the Pro only lasts 10 hours if you do not touch it and let it sleep for 10 hours (disabling all applications and processes- slipping it into a complete comatose state). The average user will find the Macbook Pro to last about - 4 hours at most; if gullible as I have been, this fact might be disenchanting at first but what the hey. You can do a lot in 4 hours.

[EDIT: Holy MONGOOSE! TURN YOUR BLUETOOTH OFF! Let me rephrase: I have been dreadfully wrong about the battery life! By lowering the screen's backlight as well as the keyboard light AND turning off the Bluetooth capability on the upper right hand corner of the screen...my battery life reads: 10 hours and 14 minutes left....wait no...its up 12 hours then it plummeted to 5 hours...I suppose something's going on with this machine.]

I'll post more on the Macbook Pro as time goes by, just to log the pros and cons of switching over from the PC to the Mac. From the Vaio notebook to the Macbook.

On the Topic of Pure Hardware Aesthetics and Functionalities

The Macbook Pro's aluminum cased body is a resultant of nature and technology melding together as one. The Pro laptop is undeniably smooth and sleek as if carved from marble or fine rock. It barely makes any sound and the screen is breathtakingly pristine; the keyboard illuminates in the most heavenly way. And of course, the touchpad is intuitive, adding to the Pro's user-friendly design through simple physical satisfaction. One 'bad' aspect of the Pro is the inability to push the Pro's screen all the way up so that its is completely "open" (180 degrees with the keyboard), which suggests inflexibility and vulnerability to damage. More nitpicky stuff on the Pro is its 'short' power cord (roughly 4 feet long) and its upgraded magnetic power plug (of the power cord), which is now weirdly cylindrical and often difficult to place into the laptop itself.

The Sony Vaio is rather clunky, made from differing parts and held together by numerous screws. The screen looks amazing, the VAIO help control is accessible, however the camera is rather lacking, and the touchpad is always an obstacle. The antenna is weak and can easily snap off. The Vaio also emits very loud internal noises and can get hot very quickly, especially with the battery on (newer models of the VGN SZ have reportedly improved on both cases). The biometric fingerprint pad is a novelty and serves no real purpose. The quick short keys above are innovative but unnecessary on this device. Overall, the Vaio is decent looking and sturdy (built with a cool hardware protection called "G-sensor shock"). Compared to the Macbook Pro, the Vaio's power cord is almost twice as long. However, despite the Vaio SZ's compact size, it seems cluttered.
